Estimator - Mechanical HVAC & Plumbing

Essential Job Skills

· Responsible for project set up, conducting piping takeoffs and running reports within QuickPen Estimating System.

· Take off equipment, material and labor for a complete Mechanical Bid.

· Complete all bid documents and submit in a timely manner.

· Interpret project specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate

· Attend pre-bid meetings and/or tour jobsites to confirm requirements of bid

· Set up Estimating Summary Sheet and required information on each project

· Responsible for checking the QuickPen material pricing on pipe, valves, fittings, etc. with plumbing supply houses

· Assist Lead Estimators with all tasks related to bid preparation

· May include preparing estimates in other areas of construction

· Interpret or utilize design completion when drawing or design is incomplete. Include other office personnel, Engineers or Architects when there is a design issue.

· Provide support to field operations regarding mechanical and plumbing estimates

· Time management, meeting deadlines, and the ability to work on several projects at once is essential

Qualifications

· Bachelors Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field OR a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Commercial Mechanical Construction estimating.

· General Construction Field Experience or General Construction Estimating Experience

· QuickPen Estimating system experience preferred, not required.

· Strong knowledge of plumbing system layout and design; able to conduct design build plumbing drawings based on written and minimal design information

· Working knowledge of civil/site construction, foundation and structural systems, exterior building wall systems, interior finish construction systems, mechanical and electrical systems, and associated costs

· Excellent organization, verbal and written communication skills.

· Strong computer skills. MS Word, MS Outlook, Excel, and AutoCAD are a plus.
