JOB DESCRIPTION

HVAC/PLUMBING MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

260 day contract / 8hpd

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Job Objectives

Provides technical expertise and manual skill in the inspection, servicing, and repair of the district’s heating, air-conditioning, and ventilation systems. Maintains high standards to ensure that a safe and orderly environment is maintained for educational and recreational activities. Uses each contact with the public as an opportunity to promote a positive impression of the school district.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Post-secondary technical/trade school graduate is preferred.
• Completion of a formal apprentice training program is required.
• Meets all mandated health requirements (e.g., a negative tuberculosis test, etc.).
• Provides documented evidence of a clear criminal record.
• Multi-school or closely related building maintenance experience is required.
• Holds or is qualified to obtain a low and high pressure boiler licenses.
• Ability to interpret and apply blueprint and schematic diagram information.
• Ability to comply with HVAC building codes.
• Ability to comply with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Public Employer Risk Reduction Act (PERRA) regulations.
• Proficient in microelectronics and other HVAC control systems.
• Proficient in boiler operations and preventive maintenance procedures.
