Plumber II

General Definition of Work

The plumber II, under general supervision, performs skill-based work with minimal decision-making discretion performing skilled plumbing work in the installation, maintenance and repair of district plumbing systems and components. Employee performs district-level work to carry out Board of Education policies under the direction of the maintenance & operations supervisor II.

Place of Work

The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.

Essential Functions

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
• Maintain all plumbing systems within CMS according to the state and local code enforcement requirements; collaborate with Mecklenburg County departments of code enforcement, health and environmental health and the NC department of environment and natural resources
• Respond to broken and clogged sewer and drain lines, inspect grease traps, sewer lift pumps and their stations
• Respond to operational emergencies affecting cafeteria services, broken water heaters, frozen pipes, broken water lines and gas leaks; evaluate situation and take proper corrective action
