We have an in-house NCCER accredited HVAC and plumbing apprenticeship school. You are able to work 40 hours per week and attend school on Fridays. CHC pays 100% of the tuition for you.

1. Summary of Duties

The Plumber/Pipe Fitter Apprentice assists Plumber or Pipe Fitter Mechanics with the assembly and installation of piping systems for sanitary waste, sanitary vents, domestic water, and various fluid systems including air, gas, process water, and refrigerants.

The Apprentice reports directly to a Plumber or Pipe Fitter Mechanic and, in some cases, to the CHC Job Foreman. This role supports a wide range of plumbing and piping installations across industrial, commercial, and residential projects. Success in this position requires initiative, good judgment, integrity, reliability, and a strong work ethic.

Frequent interaction is expected with CHC installation mechanics, foremen, and fellow employees. Contact with external individuals or customers may occasionally occur. Job stress can range from low to high, depending on factors such as weather, jobsite conditions, deadlines, and customer requirements. A typical workday is expected to be minimally stressful.

Representative Duties Include

• Cut and drill holes in walls, floors, or ceilings for pipe installation using power tools.
• Identify the correct type and size of pipe as per specifications.
• Mount pipe hangers and brackets to support piping systems.
• Assist in installing valves, couplings, and other fittings.
• Disassemble and remove damaged or worn piping as needed.
• Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, and equipment.
• Supply the craftsperson with necessary tools and materials.
