Position Summary

The Certified Plumbing Inspector is responsible for ensuring compliance with state plumbing statutes, regulations, and codes through the inspection of residential, non-residential, and commercial plumbing and drainage systems. This position reviews and approves plumbing plans, conducts inspections, and issues violations or corrective actions when necessary to protect public health and safety.

The role requires maintaining accurate inspection records, preparing detailed reports, and providing technical guidance to contractors, engineers, architects, property owners, and other stakeholders. The Certified Plumbing Inspector also supports education and outreach efforts by delivering information on plumbing standards and best practices within the community.

In addition to inspection duties, this position may assist with broader public health activities and field operations, contributing to the overall mission of the Portage County Health District.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

? Conduct plumbing and drainage system inspections for compliance with state statutes, regulations, and codes, including residential, non-residential, and commercial buildings.

? Review and approve plans related to plumbing installations. Issue violations and orders for alterations when systems fail to comply with codes. Perform Clearwater inspections prior to hook-up to sanitary sewer systems.
