Pipefitter Pipe Welder

Job Description

Altara, LLC is looking for a skilled Pipe Fitter / Welder to support fabrication and assembly of Vapor Recovery Units (VRUs), compressor skids, and related oilfield equipment.

This is hands-on shop and field work. We build and install real equipment—this is not production line work. You’ll be fitting pipe, welding, and helping put together complete units that go straight to the field.

Responsibilities

• Fit and fabricate piping systems for VRUs and gas compression packages
• Perform welding (primarily carbon steel; stainless a plus)
• Interpret isometrics, P&IDs, and fabrication prints
• Measure, cut, tack, and assemble pipe accurately
• Install valves, regulators, separators, and associated equipment
• Assist with skid builds and equipment layout
• Perform quality checks and pressure-ready welds
• Work both in shop (Stilwell area) and periodic field installs (TX/NM/OK)

Requirements

• 3+ years pipe fitting and/or welding experience
• Strong knowledge of pipe layout, fit-up, and fabrication
• Ability to read prints and build from drawings with minimal supervision
• Experience with MIG, Stick, and/or TIG welding
• Must have own basic tools
• Valid driver’s license
• Willing to travel occasionally for installs or service work

Preferred (Not Required)

• Experience with VRUs, compressors, or oil & gas equipment
• Pressure piping experience
• Structural fabrication experience (skids, frames, supports)

Pay & Schedule

• Pay: $22–$35/hr (based on experience)
• Overtime available
• Per diem when traveling
• Full-time, steady work
