The American School for the Deaf (ASD) is the oldest school for the deaf, founded in 1817 by Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet and Laurent Clerc. The American School for the Deaf is committed to serving deaf and hard of hearing infants, youth, and their families in development of intellect and the enhancement of quality of life utilizing specially designed instruction through an American Sign Language and English Bilingual Approach, empowering them to become educated and self-directed life-long learners.

Position: PlumberDepartment: Facilities and CustodialSupervisor: Facilities ManagerDescription: 12 months – Benefits EligibleUnion Status: Non-Collective Bargaining SCOPE OF DUTIES Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, maintains all building equipment and related components at the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford, CT and Camp Isola Bella, in Salisbury CT. Responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance, inspection, testing, etc., on all plumbing systems and components of both locations. SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, Mon – Fri, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, must be available for on-call rotations, after hour emergencies and snow removal. Occasional weekends for special events.
