Plumbing Excavator

TJ’s Plumbing & Heating

is seeking a skilled and dedicated Plumbing Excavator to join our team. In this role, you will operate heavy machinery to dig, expose, and repair buried water, sewer, and drainage lines. You will work closely with our plumbing crew to ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.

Core Responsibilities

• Run mini-excavators, backhoes, skid steers, and trenchers safely.
• Dig precise trenches for pipe repairs, replacements, and septic installations.
• Expose damaged utility lines carefully to allow plumbers safe access.
• Install trench boxes, shoring, and safety barriers to prevent cave-ins.
• Fill trenches, compact soil, and grade surfaces to restore the job site.
• Perform daily equipment inspections, greasing, and minor maintenance.
• Verify underground utility markings before breaking ground to avoid damage.

Qualifications & Skills

• 2+ years of heavy equipment operation, specifically in utility or plumbing excavation.
• Valid Driver’s License with a clean record (Class A or B CDL is a major plus).
• Able to lift 75 lbs and work outside in various weather conditions.
• Ability to read blueprints, follow site plans, and use pipe lasers or transit levels.
• OSHA 10-Hour and Competent Person trenching certifications preferred.
