Job Summary

The Water/Sewer Technician is responsible for performing a variety of tasks such as water and sewer line repairs, lift station repairs, meter reads, locates, fire hydrant installation, and other related to the maintenance and repair of water and sewer distribution systems within the City of Sparta, GA. The Water/Sewer Maintenance Worker will provide additional support for repairs and maintenance at both the water and wastewater treatment plants and collaborate with other departments on general maintenance tasks when needed.

Key Responsibilities

· Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections of water distribution and sewer collection systems.

· Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools, various machinery, and heavy equipment used in maintenance activities.

· Assist in the installation and replacement of water and sewer lines, valves, hydrants, and other related components.

· Respond to emergency maintenance requests and system failures promptly and efficiently.

· Maintain accurate records of work performed, including maintenance logs and inspection reports.

· Follow safety protocols and procedures while performing tasks to ensure personal and public safety.

· Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and the public regarding maintenance activities and service interruptions.

· Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
