Affiliated Office Address Baltimore, MD, United States Requisition ID 120181 Date Created January 22, 2026 Job Function Facilities/Skilled Trades Exempt Status Non-Exempt Shift Type Full Time Schedule Monday - Friday Worksite 01-MD:Homewood Campus Work Modality On-site: 90-100% of hours worked on-site Johns Hopkins Facilities & Real Estate is seeking a *Journeyworker - Plumbe**r* who performs maintenance, installation and repair work on piped utility systems and fixtures and on the piping and connection of equipment. This work is performed under limited supervision and using the tools and techniques of plumbing technology.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform inspections and maintenance on plumbing systems to ensure safety and functionality.
- Reads and interprets complex schematic and construction drawings, service manuals and other technical documents.
- Follows instructions provided by blueprints, drawings, written materials, work orders and oral instructions.
- Identifies, analyzes, diagnoses and resolves routine and complex plumbing equipment problems and component conditions.
- Adhere to all applicable requirements, including safety standards and local codes.
- Interpret diagrams, blueprints and other related drawings.
- Inventory and properly track supplies, equipment, tools and machinery.
- Communicate with Facilities leadership, other related trades, apprentices and coworkers effectively to promote efficiency.
- Trains peer and lower-level positions as directed by supervisor, based on the guidelines of the JHU Apprenticeship program.
- Works with the Plumbing Maintenance Workers to requisitions in-house stock items.
- Requests non-stock items for purchase subject to supervisor approval.
- Makes decisions based on trade practices, National Plumbing Code, and supervisor direction as appropriate for the scope of this position.
