Plumbing Crew Leader / Excavation Crew LeaderMUST HAVE PRIOR PLUMBING EXPERIENCE

Tri-County Plumbing & Contracting LLC is seeking an experienced Plumbing Crew Leader to oversee excavation and underground plumbing projects. This is a working leadership position that requires hands-on plumbing experience, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage a crew while ensuring jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and correctly.

This is NOT a general laborer or excavation-only position. Applicants must have experience installing, repairing, and connecting underground water and sewer lines and be able to perform the plumbing portion of the work.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience installing, repairing, and connecting underground water and sewer lines and be capable of leading a crew while performing the plumbing work themselves when needed.

This position requires both field leadership and administrative responsibilities. The Crew Leader is responsible for overseeing jobsite operations while ensuring all required paperwork, photos, and job documentation are completed accurately and submitted to the office.

Requirements

Prior plumbing experience required.
Knowledge of water, sewer, gas, and underground plumbing systems.
Ability to independently install, repair, and connect underground water, sewer, and gas piping systems.
Experience installing and repairing underground water service lines.
Experience installing and repairing underground sewer service lines.
Experience installing and connecting residential and commercial water service lines.
Experience installing and connecting residential and commercial sewer service lines.
Ability to perform underground plumbing tie-ins to existing systems.
Ability to make plumbing connections, tie-ins, and system repairs.
Ability to determine proper repair methods for damaged water and sewer lines.
Ability to troubleshoot underground plumbing issues and determine proper repair methods.
Knowledge of plumbing codes, inspections, and industry best practices.
Experience working with inspections and ensuring work meets applicable plumbing codes.
Ability to read plans, specifications, utility locates, elevations, and pipe grades.
Ability to identify potential plumbing issues before excavation begins.
Experience directing excavation crews during plumbing installations.
Experience coordinating plumbing installations with excavation crews.
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
Ability to operate and work around excavation equipment.
Ability to dig for extended periods using hand tools when necessary.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, and lift up to 75 lbs.
Ability to lead and direct helpers and laborers on job sites.
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate professionally with customers, inspectors, utility companies, contractors, and office staff.

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise a plumbing excavation crew on residential and commercial projects.
Install, repair, and oversee underground water, sewer, and gas line work.
Install and oversee underground plumbing systems from excavation through final connection.
Verify proper pipe grade, depth, bedding, and backfill requirements.
Verify that underground water, sewer, and gas line installations are completed correctly.
Ensure all plumbing connections, tie-ins, and repairs are completed according to code.
Troubleshoot underground plumbing problems and determine the best repair or replacement method.
Assign daily tasks and ensure crew members understand job expectations.
Train, mentor, and develop helpers and laborers.
Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to company standards.
Monitor work quality and ensure jobs are completed properly the first time.
Coordinate with inspectors and utility companies when required.
Ensure all work passes inspection and meets company quality standards.
Communicate with customers regarding job progress, expectations, and any changes that arise.
Communicate with the office regarding job status, delays, additional work needed, and job completion.
Ensure tools, equipment, and company vehicles are maintained and organized.
Address jobsite issues and make decisions in the field while keeping management informed.
Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times.

Administrative & Documentation Responsibilities

Complete all required job documentation before leaving the job site.
Accurately document work performed, materials used, and any issues encountered.
Upload clear before, during, and after photos for every job.
Ensure invoices, job notes, and estimates are completed thoroughly and accurately.
Verify that all photos and documentation have successfully uploaded before closing a job.
Obtain customer signatures when required.
Document customer conversations, site conditions, limitations, and recommendations made during the job.
Report any safety concerns, property damage, utility conflicts, or unexpected conditions immediately.
Ensure jobs are properly completed, left open for follow-up, or transferred to the appropriate department when necessary.
Maintain accurate records to support warranties, customer communication, and future service needs.
Notify the office immediately when a job is completed or if additional work is required.
Ensure all paperwork is submitted correctly and on time.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift at least 75 lbs.
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Must be able to dig for extended periods of time using a shovel and other hand tools.
