Job Summary

Virginia International Terminals, LLC (VIT) is seeking a certified Master Plumber to maintain and repair the plumbing infrastructure at the facilities defined in the scope of work in the Facilities Maintenance Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with the International Longshore Association (ILA). This includes office buildings, underground utilities, pump stations, and backflow systems across the port facilities. Additional terms and conditions of employment are defined in the CBA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Port Service Calls: Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy industrial plumbing systems across terminals and administrative buildings.
  • Pump Stations & Lift Stations: Oversee, booster pump systems, industrial lift stations, and storm water/wastewater management pumps.
  • Underground Utilities: assist with underground water mains, sewer infrastructure, and industrial drainage.
  • Pipe Threading: Cut, thread, and install high-pressure iron, steel, and industrial alloy piping systems.
  • Sewer & Drainage: Operate heavy-duty commercial sewer machines to resolve large-scale blockages and conduct regular preventative maintenance.
  • Backflow Certification: Test, certify, and maintain commercial backflow prevention assemblies to protect the terminal's water supply.

Minimum Requirements

  • Licensure: Active Master Plumber License issued by the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR).
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of verified commercial/industrial plumbing experience.
  • Certification: Valid Certificate of Calibration for backflow test gauges
  • Port Security: Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card for port access.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Equipment Mastery: Proven expertise operating heavy pipe threading equipment and commercial sewer machines.
