Purpose and Objectives of the Position

The Plumber coordinates and directs the operation and maintenance of plumbing and special systems to ensure full and productive use of district facilities. They will also assist the Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Department in the maintenance needs of the district. To accomplish these tasks, the Plumber must work closely with the Maintenance Coordinator, district staff and administration.

Qualifications

• Completion of standard high school or trade school course, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Experience in maintenance and repair of plumbing, and special systems.
• Commercial Plumbing Experience.
• Valid Kansas driver’s license.
• Knowledge of standard practices, tools, and terminology of plumbing and a working knowledge of the trade.
• Knowledge of the safety hazards of the work.
• Skill in the use of tools.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Dependability, self-motivation and good judgment.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as are determined to be appropriate and acceptable.

• Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelines.
• Maintain suitable supplies, tools and equipment.
• Ensure that adequate safety precautions are followed at all times.
• Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques.
• Adhere to all district health and safety policies.
• Assist the maintenance department in maintaining the districts buildings and grounds and other duties assigned by the maintenance coordinator.
